PURPOSE: A sigma delta beam generator without multiplier and a method for reducing artifacts are implemented to reduce demodulation errors and signal distortions by eliminating the process of bit addition or bit subtraction. CONSTITUTION: A sigma delta beam generator in a medical ultrasound includes a plurality of channels(12), a 1-bit block register, a 1-bit block adder(14), and a low pass filter(16). Each channel includes a sigma-delta AD(Analog to Digital) converter(18) and an accumulator coupled with an output of the sigma-delta AD converter. The adder is coupled with the accumulators included in the plurality of channels. The accumulator selects a block of data output by using the respective sigma-delta AD converter in response to a focal delay. Each of the sigma-delta AD converter includes a single bit sigma-delta AD converter.
