APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING COMPRESSOR OF MULTI-AIR CONDITIONER ESPECIALLY CONCERNED WITH DRIVING INVERTER COMPRESSOR AND CONSTANT SPEED COMPRESSORS FOR EQUAL PERIOD OF TIME

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a compressor of a multi-air conditioner are provided to drive an inverter compressor and a plurality of constant speed compressors for equal time, thereby preventing damage or abrasion of inverter and constant speed compressors. CONSTITUTION: A load calculating unit(10) sums up cooling load of operating indoor units. A memory unit(20) stores a table operation mode intervals divided by a certain cooling load ratio according to the number of sub-outdoor units(50) and the number of a main outdoor unit(40). A control unit(30) receives the sum total of the cooling load from the load calculating unit for reading the ratio occupied by the cooling load among the maximum cooling load of the indoor units coinciding with the sum total of the cooling load. The control unit intermittently drives one constant speed compressor in a minimum cooling load operation mode interval according to the read ratio while driving all constant speed compressors and an inverter compressor in a maximum cooling load operation mode interval. The control unit stops the intermittently driven compressor and intermittently drives the constant speed compressors which are not driven in the previous operation mode interval in an operation mode interval between the minimum cooling load operation mode interval and the maximum cooling load operation mode interval to correspond the ratio occupied by the cooling load.
