METHOD FOR MANAGING QUALITY OF SERVICE IN INTERNET PROTOCOL DIFFERENTIATED SERVICE NETWORK

PURPOSE: A method for managing QoS(Quality of Service) in an IP differentiated service network is provided to implement each component in table type of MIB(Management Information Base) or PIB(Policy Information Base), thereby enabling a network manager to manage network equipment through an SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) or a COPS(Common Open Policy Service). CONSTITUTION: Information-based tables(32,34,36) are connected to one another by corresponding to internal components of a network equipment where data packets pass through. Entry reference enable fields are added to each of the information-based tables(32,34,36) as attributes in order to distinguish whether entries are referred to the tables(32,34,36). A network manager sets control values in each of the entry reference enable fields of the tables(32,34,36) so that the entries are selectively applied to corresponding traffic by being recognized in the network equipment. When the traffic arrives at the network equipment, each of the internal components selectively processes the traffic based on the control values of the entries.
