PURPOSE: A method for preparing lithium vanadium complex oxide with the improved electrochemical property and a lithium secondary battery using the oxide are provided, to improve the capacity, lifetime and uniformity of the oxide powder used as an active material of a cathode of a lithium secondary battery. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding LiOH and V2O5 by the mol ratio of 2.0-2.5 : 3 to water and mixing them with stirring to prepare a lithium vanadium oxide powder solution; washing the lithium vanadium oxide powder solution with water to remove the unreacted one by the precipitation method; freeze-drying the lithium vanadium oxide powder solution; and heating the dried lithium vanadium oxide powder under air atmosphere. Preferably the mixing is carried out at a temperature of 50-60 deg.C, and the heating is carried out at a temperature of 200-350 deg.C. Preferably the cylindrical lithium secondary battery comprises a cathode(6), a separator membrane(5), an anode(4), wherein a separator membrane(5), and the electrodes and the separator membranes are joined into one body by heat.
