PURPOSE: Graphite particles used for the negative electrode of a lithium secondary battery are provided to improve charge-discharge properties and cycle properties, or to have less irreversible capacity in the first cycle with excellent cycle properties, or to have less irreversible capacity in the first cycle with rapid charge-discharge properties and improved cycle properties. CONSTITUTION: The graphite particles have: the aspect ratio of 5 or less; Lc(002) that is a size of graphite crystal in c-axis direction of 500 or less; pore volume per gram of graphite particle of 0.4-2.0cc/g, wherein the pore has a size ranged between 102-106. The graphite particles have an average particle size of 1-100micrometers.
