PURPOSE: Graphite particles and a lithium secondary battery using the same as a negative electrode are provided to improve cycle properties with quick charge-discharge properties, thereby being suitably used for a portable electric device, an electric car, electric power storage and the like. CONSTITUTION: The graphite particles are prepared by adding 1-50wt% of a graphitizing catalyst to a raw material or a binder, which can be graphitized; homogenizing and calcining the mixture; and then pulverizing the resulted product, wherein the resulted particles have an aspect ratio of 5 or less, a crystal size in the c-axis direction(the thickness direction) of 500 or more, and the density of a negative electrode of 1.5-1.9g/cm2, when measured after being compressed.
