The method involves deflecting a first beam (6) of electromagnetic radiation from a fixed course on the side of a first deflection unit (8) remote from the storage medium (2) to the side nearer the medium in a variable course, similarly deflecting a second beam (10) with a second deflection unit (12) and at least partly superimposing the first and second beams in a defined spatial region of the storage medium at a definable angle. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a device for processing information in different spatial areas of a holographic storage medium.
