A work piece (22) is aligned in a honing machine (11) with a drilled hole axis to the axis of a honing spindle axis (25). A measuring tool (26) inserts into a honing spindle (24) and measures a drilled hole (31) on two levels. As a result, drilling device points are determined by means of a computer control device on the appropriate levels. An Independent claim is also included for a honing machine with a device for aligning a honing tool gripped in a honing spindle and a drilled hole in a work piece to be aligned to each other.
