The tool has an electrically-driven drive shaft (2) to which the driven tool is attached via a fixing screw or nut, with a blocking device (16) preventing the rotation of the drive shaft in the screw or nut loosening or tightening direction. The blocking device has a blocking cog (17) attached to the drive shaft and a manually-operated latch lever (19), displaced against a spring bias into engagement with the blocking cog, e.g. a 2-armed lever pivoted about an axis (20) in either direction for blocking the drive shaft rotation in one or other direction.
