Method for bridging over a shortfall in a battery voltage supply to a control circuit when a motor vehicle is switched on or a large load is drawn. Accordingly the operating state of a control unit (20, 22, 30) is recorded prior to the starting of a vehicle, or switching on of a load, and after the event the stored values used, return the control unit to its prior state, once the voltage level is above its low voltage threshold. The invention also relates to a corresponding use of the method in a motor vehicle parking system.
