The device (1) has a rechargeable battery unit (9) for providing a supply voltage. A sound unit is connected with a communication unit (4) that receives a control signal, in order to output sound by an output device (8) dependent on the control signal. A level transducer (10) e.g. charge pump, produces an increased supply voltage with respect to another supply voltage, with which the communication unit is operated. The sound unit has a microprocessor (5) for providing an output signal and a power amplifier (7) for controlling the output device dependent upon on the output signal.
