Pneumatic screw device comprises a screwing head (1), a feed piston sitting in a first cylinder for backward and forward movement of the screwing head, a holder (6) for a screwdriver (7), and a screwdriver piston (8) sitting in a second cylinder (9) for backward and forward movement of the screwdriver. The device also comprises an arrangement for reducing the stroke speed of the screwdriver before it reaches the screw. Preferred Features: The braking arrangement contains a stop (16) connected via a piston rod (15) to an additional piston/cylinder arrangement (13, 14) counteracting the stroke of the screwdriver as a pneumatic spring. The braking arrangement also contains a controlled linear drive.
