The method to determine the set characteristic of the control change pressure for the lock-up clutch of a torque converter, which has a pump wheel, turbine wheel and stator and driven by a motor, entails calculating the control change pressure before the control change from the design characteristic of the lock-up clutch's control change torque and from the construction data of the lock-up clutch, and before engagement of the control change measuring certain values, namely the pump RPM, the pump RPM gradient, the turbine RPM, and the turbine RPM gradient before the control change.
