Combustion force operated setting tool, e.g. for driving nails into a surface, comprises a cylinder and piston. The latter is driven by an explosion occurring within the chamber, caused by an ignition device that is primed by a trigger device. Timing of the ignition is controlled by a control unit that determines the earliest possible fuel ignition time based on a battery charge, whereby ignition is only triggered if the calculated ignition time is before an upper time limit.
