An adaptive equalizer system has an equalizer with a number of equalizer stages (10,20,30,40), in which each equalizer stage can be connected to one or more receiver units, in which each receiver unit comprises an RF device (2;4) and antennas (1,3) for providing an output signal to the equalizer stages. A weighting estimating device (60) generates a number of weightings which are combined into the output signals of the equalizer stages. A combiner (70) is provided for the constructive combining of weighted signals, and a transfer control unit (50) provides selective connection of the outputs of each reception unit to an input of the equalizer stages (10,20,30,40).
