Separating mixed, shredded, non-ferrous metal waste for recycling, analyzes sounds produced by particle-resonator impact, to characterize and isolate individual metals

Metal pieces are fed individually onto a resonator. Sounds from the resonator and/or metal particles are measured and analyzed. Results are compared with recorded reference measurements taken similarly, from individual metal pieces of defined composition. On correspondence between measured and reference signals, the metal pieces are characterized and separated accordingly. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
