The pipeline section de-commissioning device (100) is displaced in the axial direction within the pipeline (2) via the high pressure flow (9), using at least one drive and guidance cuff (12,13), with halting in a required position by reduction of the flow resistance, so that a corresponding pipeline section (3,4) is bridged by feeding the pipeline flow along at least one bypass line pipe (25-28) between spaced sealing cuffs (21-24). Each bypass line pipe is provided by a flexible high pressure hose coupled to a collection cylinder (29,39) at either end.
