Vehicle automatic driving space regulation or vehicle following system for use at low speeds in a so-called stop and go system has units for setting upper and lower speed limits for implementation of the vehicle following system, a control unit and a command unit for implementing following of a leading vehicle. The whole system is configured such that an action of the driver or other external influence can cause temporary suspension of the automatic following, which is then automatically resumed when the cause is removed.
