The method involves activating a low-speed operating mode used for operating an actuator controlling system (11) or a normal-speed operating mode of the system along speed of the vehicle. The low-speed operating mode is switched to the normal-speed operating mode such that the speed of the vehicle exceeds a threshold value. The normal speed operating mode is switched to the low-speed operating mode such that the speed of the vehicle falls below the threshold value, where the system controls an actuator (17) used for actuating a wheel braking system and/or a drive motor of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a system for controlling an actuator of a motor vehicle.
