A tool for tightening the tension pegs in a stringed instrument has a socket jaw (2) to fit over the grip end of a peg and with a profiled shaft (1) to fit onto a servo drive, or into a chuck. Adaptor reducers can be fitted into the jaw to cater for smaller pegs. The inner cross section of the jaw grip matches the cross section of the grips on the pegs. The user is able to tighten a series of strings with a minimum of manual effort and without risk of injury.
