The string tensioner comprises a handle (1) whose length corresponds to that of the string. It has at one end (9) pegs (8) whose number pref. corresponds to that of strings. A bridge (3) and a support n2) are between the two ends, at a distance corresponding to the string vibrating section in the instrument in which the string is to be fitted. The saddle (2), the bridge (3) the saddle holder (5) and the head part n10) are made of a plactic material, but these have to b made with very close tolerances. The saddle and the bridge have ribs in which the same strings may be laid.
