The preserving glass (1) has a glass ring located below a rubber sealing ring (3), and in the glass lid (2) a shoulder is provided above the rubber ring. The spacing of the shoulders is such that a wedge-shaped pressure lever of plastic can be fitted in between and by pressure can lift the lid so that it can be removed. A plastic protective plate (5) can be cast into the glass shoulder in order to eliminate splintering during tool insertion.
