The scales include a scales body and a scale pan connected to the body. An operating panel is provided on the body and is connected to a control circuit. The operating panel has function and number buttons for controlling the diet and nutrition of a diabetes patient. An LCD display adjacent the operating panel is also connected to the control circuit. The LCD display displays different standard food classification (SFC) graphic symbols and abbreviations, addition and subtraction text descriptions, and abbreviations to display function and result data. The control circuit processes weight data and calculates the calorie value of specific diets based on the weight data. It then generates, in an intelligent manner, the calorie requirement per day/mealtime for individual patients.
