A self-lubricating ball screw spindle has an oil reservoir (12) which is secured at both ends by screws (20) and is located by a positioning ring (13) and locking ring (7). The rings (13, 7) hold a cylindrical group of oilstones (9). The length of the oil reservoir can be reduced as required by cutting. One side of the positioning ring (13) has a collar (14) which locates in a circular detent (15) on the inner face of a ball ring (2), where it is fixed by a screw (1b).
