The vehicle has additional integral wheels (18) mounted on hydraulic cylinders (5) supplied from a pump (14). The wheels are driven by electric motors (13) and the cylinder/wheel units are swivelled by steering assemblies (16). Suspension collapse during lifting is prevented by an electrically actuated blocking mechanism (8,9). The operation is controlled from the normal steering position using lifting and guiding controls (2,15).
