Video object tracking method, by dividing two digital images in video sequence into blocks with same size and shape

The tracking method comprises the following steps: (a) selecting a first digital image in the sequence (E1); (b) selecting a first region of interest in the first image (E2); (c) forming first blocks in the first region (E3); (d) selecting a second digital image in the sequence (E4); (e) determining second blocks in the second image (E5), so that the first and second blocks form objects with the same size and shape, as a function of a determination criteria; and (f) optimizing the position of each of the second blocks (E6), as a function of an optimization criteria. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Method for extracting a message from a video image sequence by selecting a region of interest in one of the sequence images, tracking the region using the above method and extracting the message symbols; (2) Tracking device; (3) Message extraction device; and (4) Digital image sequence processing apparatus.
