Medical radiographic imaging method in which the density of bones is measured by determination of the value of a composite index in a 3D coordinate system based on digitized radiological data and a 3D generic model of a bone structure being imaged. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a device for measuring the 3D spatial distribution of bone density and; (b) a computer program for processing digital radiographic data to determine bone density distributions.
