A porous fibrous structure is consolidated by forming within it a deposit of a refractory material carrying out a partial densification of the fibrous structure so as to bind the fibers of the fibrous structure together to allow the fibrous structure to '' be handled without being deformed, while leaving free most of the initial porosity of the fibrous structure, and rigid pins (10) are implanted through the consolidated porous structure (20). A blank is obtained by reinforcement of a fibrous structure by implantation of pins or by connection between them of consolidated fibrous structures, the connection being produced by implantation of pins.
