Improvements in receivers for television signals

A hard disk recorder is arranged to receive signals defining television programmes from two tuners 10a and 10b and to simultaneously record them. The signals may be buffered and transferred at first and second data rates to the recorder at a data rate which is equal or higher than the sum of the first two data rates. A third buffer may be used to output data to a display at a third data rate wherein data is transferred from the recorder to this buffer at a a data rate equal or higher than the sum of the three data rates. The recorder may record on an optical medium.
