PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately detecting a substantially ball-shaped spherical minute movable body and measuring its volume.;SOLUTION: According to this method for measuring the volume of a spherical minute movable body, a change in light intensity occurring on a detection surface 13 due to the spherical minute movable body 11 crossing a beam optical path is detected and converted into a measuring signal 19 to measure the movable body 11 when the movable body 11 passes through the optical path of a light barrier sensor part. Prior to a step for measuring the movable body 11, a step is provided for previously finding a standard volume from the average of volumes of a plurality of spherical minute movable bodies to associate the amplitude U_T of the measuring signal 19 with the standard volume. On a step for measuring spherical minute movable bodies 11, the volume of each movable body detected is measured based on a change in the amplitude U_T of the measuring signal 19 and on the standard volume.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
