PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetation cover classification observation method capable of precisely performing a classification by setting an optimum frequency and polarized wave for observation at the time of establishing a method for monitoring a vegetative cover. PSOLUTION: In a method for performing a vegetative cover classification by remote sensing with multi-frequency/multi-polarization SAR, unsupervised classification is used as a statistic determination method, the influence on classification precision of the frequency and polarized wave to be used for measurement is preliminarily determined, and the observation is performed with the resulting optimum frequency and polarized wave. The observation may be performed with a probe including at least L-band VV polarized wave. When the vegetative cover classification of a bog is performed with a minimum combination number of data, a combination of X-band HV polarized wave with L-band HV polarized wave and VV polarized wave is used for the probe.
