PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard motor identification number setting device capable of automatically setting respective different identification numbers with a simple structure without performing a special setting operation, when the different identification numbers are set to a plurality of outboard motors.;SOLUTION: The plurality of outboard motors 11a to 11d are provided with respective number setting sections 26a to 26d, and respective number transmitting/receiving sections 28a to 28d for transmitting their respective identification numbers and receiving the identification numbers of the other outboard motors 11a to 11d through a network 13. When the number transmitting/receiving sections 28a to 28d do not receive the identification numbers of the other outboard motors from the network 13 for a prescribed period, an initial value set in the number setting sections 26a to 26d beforehand is set in the number setting sections 26a to 26d as the identification number of the outboard motor. When the number transmitting/receiving sections 28a to 28d receive the identification numbers of the other outboard motors from the network 13, the identification number different from the identification numbers of the other outboard motors is set in the number setting sections 26a to 26d.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
