METHOD OF CALCULATING BLOOD CO-Hb AND METHOD AND INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING TOTAL BODY WATER

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the blood CO-Hb% of a subject can be calculated by measuring the exhalation of the subject, and to provide a method and instrument for measuring total body water. PSOLUTION: In the method of calculating blood CO-Hb%, the regression equations of the CO concentration and COSB2/SBconcentration in the exhalation of the subject are found by measuring the concentrations and, in addition, the end-expiratory CO concentration of the subject at an arbitrary point of time is calculated from the regression equations and the partial pressure of COSB2/SBin the arterial blood of the subject and the blood CO-Hb% is calculated from the mean value of the end-expiratory CO concentration. In addition, the total body water of the subject is measured by the CO-hemoglobin diluting method by applying the method of calculating blood CO-Hb%. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
