PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enhanced presence information providing system or the like whereby the communication state of user terminal equipment can be discriminated.;SOLUTION: In the presence information providing system having the user terminal equipment for transmitting message information and a presence management server for managing the presence information of users, the user terminal equipment is provided with: a communication section for making communication with a presence management server; and a message generating section for generating message information in response to the presence information of a transmission destination provided from the presence management server. The presence management server is provided with: a user information management section for managing user information; a communication history management section for managing communication history information stored through the communication; a communication state determination section for determining the succeeding communication state of the user terminal equipment on the basis of at least either of the communication history information and the user information; and a presence update section for updating the presence information of the user terminal equipment on the basis of the communication state.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
