PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CO selective oxidation catalyst with which concentration of CO in a methanol modified gas can be efficiently decreased even in the presence of methanol with a small amount of oxygen introduction and in a wider temperature region and a method for decreasing the concentration of CO in the methanol modified gas using the CO selective oxidation catalyst like this. SOLUTION: The methanol modified gas mixed with oxidation gas is brought into contact with the CO selective oxidation catalyst prepared by carrying platinum and ruthenium on a zeolite carrier with a ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 of at least 50 to selectively oxidize and remove only CO in the modified gas.
