PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalytic coating composition that easily forms a photocatalytic coating film free from chalking phenomenon, when the surface of a metal base material such as aluminum is coated with this composition, a photocatalytic metal material having the photocatalytic coating film free from chalking phenomenon on the surface of the metal base material such as aluminum and its manufacturing process.;SOLUTION: The photocatalytic coating composition for the metal base material is the photocatalytic coating composition which is applied on the surface of the metal base material and forms the photocatalytic coating film on the surface. The composition comprises, relative to the total solid content in an aqueous solvent, 1-50 mass% of a partially covered photocatalyst powder obtained by partially covering the surface of a metal compound having photocatalytic activity with a photo-inactive inorganic substance, 30-89 mass% of an inorganic film-forming agent and 10-50 mass% of a water-soluble organic polymer compound. The photocatalytic metal material and its manufacturing process comprises coating the surface of the metal base material with the photocatalytic coating composition, drying it, and removing the water-soluble organic polymer compound in the coating film obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
