PURPOSE: To provide a product trapping-preventing method for a heater for lateral sealing in a lateral bag/making/filling/packaging method, which can prevent the front side or rear side of an object to be packaged from being laterally sealed and cut, when an opaque packaging film is used. ;CONSTITUTION: An object to be packaged detecting sensor 6 is provided between film ends (f) at a location between a film transferring roll 2 and a heater 3 for vertical sealing, and the front end of an object to be packaged W is detected. From when a lateral sealing is performed on the object to be packaged W, a pulse which is output from a pulse generating means 7 is counted, and the counting of the pulse is stopped based on a sensor signal. When the counted pulses is smaller than a small threshold value, the front side of the object to be packaged W is not laterally sealed. Also, when the counted pulses is larger than a large threshold value, the rear side of the object to be packaged W is not laterally sealed. When the next lateral sealing is performed without a detection of an object to e package W by the object to be packaged detecting sensor 6 after a lateral sealing has been performed, the pulse is newly counted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
