The installation includes a floating island with a platform (12) having at least five poles (1a-1d,2a-2d) vertically movable relative to the platform between raised and lowered positions. At least one vertically movable cutting device (3a,3b) is supported to the platform, and includes a drive shaft extending downward from the platform and having a cutter head (13a,13b) at its lower end. A supporting and guiding structure facilitates horizontal displacement of the platform, together with at least one raised pole. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a dredging method; and (b) a cutting device.
