The forming method comprises the following steps: (a) unwinding sheet material (MP) from a roll (3); (b) measuring the length of the unrolled material; (c) introducing the unrolled material into a roll forming machine (16); (d) forming the material in one or more steps; (e) bending at least a section (47) of the sheet material; and (f) cutting a finished article from the sheet. An independent claim is also included for the forming apparatus (1), comprising an unwind device (2), a measuring device (6) for the length of unrolled material, a roll forming machine with a number of roll forming stations (17A- 17F), a bending device (24) and a cutting device (18).
