The invention relates to a method for selecting cardiomyogenic cells or cardiac muscle cells in a mixture which contains other cell types consisting in: A) introducing at least one selection structure arranged on a vector integrating a little proportion of cells into cellular genome in the selected cells, at least one selection marker specifically expressed in cardiomyogenic cells or cardiac muscle cells being coded on said selection structure, and B) placing said cells in a culture and adding at least one type of cytotoxic or cytostatic selection agent until a pure population of cardiomyogenic cells or cardiac muscle cells is obtained. Said invention also relates to a method for producing pure cultures of cardiomyogenic cells or cardiac muscle cells, to the use of the cardiomyogenic cells or cardiac muscle cells and to cell culture banks containing the cultures of cardiomyogenic cells or cardiac muscle cells which are characterised according to tissue type.
