摘要

A novel peptide or protein capable of binding lipid A and LPS, which is highly safe and can be obtained at low cost; a DNA coding for the peptide or protein; and utilizing the peptide or protein, an LPS adsorbent and LPS poison neutralizer. Screening is carried out in accordance with the phage display method with the use of lipid A or LPS as a target substance to thereby identify the amino acid sequence of peptide capable of binding lipid A and LPS and a DNA coding for the amino acid sequence. The peptides having the amino acid sequence of any of thus obtained SEQ ID NOS. 1 to 6 or having amino acid sequences resulting from modification, amino acid residue substitution, insertion and/or deletion of the above amino acid sequences performed without detriment to capability of binding lipid A can be easily produced by chemical synthesis. For example, an LPS adsorbent can be obtained by immobilizing the peptides on a support. An LPS poison neutralizer can be obtained by containing the peptides as an active ingredient.
