PURPOSE: A COT(color filter on thin film transistor) array structure LCD device is provided to improve an aperture ratio by forming both an array device having a thin film transistor and a color filter on one substrate to remove a bonding margin and reduce process steps by forming the color filter in an island pattern for the unit of pixel regions. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate for an LCD device includes gate and data lines formed to cross each other, a thin film transistor formed at crossing points of the gate and data lines, having a gate electrode, a source electrode, and a drain electrode, a color filter layer formed in an island pattern within the range of exposing the drain electrode for the unit of pixel regions defined by the crossing points of the gate and data lines, and a pixel electrode connected with the thin film transistor at a region covering the color filter layer.
