METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING A SCAN MODE IN AN OPTICAL DISC APPARATUS, CONCERNED WITH RELEASING A SCAN MODE IN WHICH DATA RECORDED ON AN OPTICAL DISC IS SCANNED AT A HIGH SPEED

PURPOSE: An automatic scan mode controlling method is provided to automatically release a scan mode where data stored at an optical disc is scanned at a high speed though a user does not input a scan release key or regeneration key. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. Data stored at an optical disc is scanned at a high speed, a video frame is captured at a certain frequency, and a luminance or a color component of each video frame is detected(S11,S12,S13). Based on a value difference among the detected luminance or color components, a current scan mode is selectively maintained or released(S14,S16). If a user does not input any key after the scan mode is automatically released, a scan mode is automatically reestablished and the data stored at the optical disc is scanned(S18).
