PURPOSE: A method for fabricating an array substrate for an LCD is provided to reduce mask process steps and improve process efficiency by forming a partial passivation layer using a thermal transfer film and a laser and forming a pixel electrode using an ink jet printer. CONSTITUTION: In a method for fabricating an array substrate for an LCD, gate and data lines crossing each other are formed on a substrate(102) to define a pixel region and a thin film transistor(Tr) at a crossing point of the gate and data lines. A thermal transfer film having an organic insulating material layer is bonded onto the substrate in which the thin film transistor is formed. The organic insulating material layer is transferred on the entire surface of the substrate except for a portion for a pixel electrode and a portion of a drain electrode(126) on the thin film transistor using a laser so as to form a passivation layer(130). The pixel electrode adjoining the exposed drain electrode is formed by doping a transparent conductive polymer into a region where the passivation layer is not formed, including some of the drain electrode, using an ink jet printer.
