PURPOSE: Provided are a seaweed-derived oligosaccharide which has an anticancer activity and an antioxidizing effect, its preparation method and its use as a pharmaceutical composition, functional food and cosmetic composition. CONSTITUTION: The seaweed-derived oligosaccharide is obtained by treating a seaweed extract with a microorganism-derived sugar transferase. The method comprises the steps of extracting seaweed to prepare a seaweed extract; treating the seaweed extract with a microorganism-derived sugar transferase; pasteurizing the treated extract; and obtaining an oligosaccharide from the pasteurized extract. Preferably the seaweed is at least one selected from the group consisting of a sea lettuce, brown seaweed, kelp and seaweed fusiforme; and the sugar transferase is at least one selected from the group consisting of -glucosidase, cyclomaltodextrin glucanotransferase, 4--glucanotransferase and -amylase.
