PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided to reduce the time required for the initial process to be performed during the 1 TV field with securing the operational margin of the panel. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a plasma display panel includes the steps of: a step of dividing at least portion among a plurality of scan electrodes into a plurality of blocks(B1-B5); a step of simultaneously initializing by applying a predetermined initialization waveform for the plurality of blocks; a first address step of selectively inputting the data into the discharge cells of the whole blocks; and a step of applying a plurality of discharge sustain pulse during the first sustain period(520) for each block to construct the plurality of the blocks, performing the second address to input the data into the discharge cells in each block and applying the plurality of the discharge sustain pulses again during the second sustain period(540).
