FIELD: equipment for manufacture of hygienic articles.;SUBSTANCE: apparatus has cylindrical rotating sealing shaft and rotating supporting shaft arranged close to cylindrical sealing shaft and adapted for defining nip therebetween, said nip being designed for sequential thermal fastening and calendaring of enclosure material and fibrous cloth. Sealing shaft has at least one pair of sealing and ironing members successively arranged around circumference of shaft in direction of rotation. Sealing and ironing members have heat-conductive material and comprise leading and tailing edges oriented in direction of rotation. At least one edge of ironing member is heat-insulated from adjacent edge of adjacent sealing member. Method involves applying layer of enclosure onto fibrous cloth; providing passage thereof through nip defined between sealing and supporting shafts; applying heat to first portion of cloth and enclosure layer within first temperature range sufficient for securing thereof with one another; applying heat to second part of cloth and enclosure layer within second temperature range sufficient for calendaring of cloth.
