The washing machine has a cylindrical washing liquid container enclosing a rotary laundry drum, supported by a shaft pin (7) at the drum base, fitting through an opening (4) in the base (3) of the washing liquid container and supported by at least 2 bearings (8) within a bearing housing. A seal between the shaft pin and the opening has dynamic seal components (12,13,14) associated with the shaft pin, a shaft pin ring (15) or the inner ring of a shaft pin bearing and a static seal component (23) provided by the washing liquid container. The seal is shielded from contact with the washing liquid by an integral part of the washing liquid container base, made of a plastics which is resistant to the washing liquid.
