Vehicle sidewalls (11) on both sides of the boot (3) (or trunk) enclose with the bodywork (1), storage spaces for the pivoting mechanism (4) and the C-column components (10), with the roof open. The sidewalls are moved in accordance with the position of the mechanism, to change the storage spaces between an enlarged state (A) and a reduced state (B), so that when closing the roof down, the available boot space is enlarged and vice versa.
