The adjuster (1) has an electromagnetic operating unit (8) for operating a hydraulic control valve (3) having a valve housing (6) with a control piston (5) for controlling supply of hydraulic fluid and its discharge from an hydraulic operating unit (3). A sleeve (24) surrounds a part of the valve housing to tightly cover a pressure channel (22) open along the outside of the valve housing. The hydraulic operating unit adjusts the angular position of a camshaft (2) relative to a camshaft drive. The hydraulic operating unit has an outer operating portion (12) connected to the crankshaft of an engine for driving the camshaft. The pressure channel extends along the longitudinal section of the valve housing for supplying hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic operating unit via the hydraulic control valve.
